How to Bump a Discord Server in 2026: DISBOARD and More
How to bump a Discord server on DISBOARD and other server lists: setup, the /bump command, cooldowns, bump reminders, and why bumps alone don't keep members.
Community field notes
To bump a Discord server, you run a server list's bump command, usually /bump, inside your server. The list then moves your server back near the top of its results for a while. Most lists only let you bump every couple of hours, so bumping is a routine, not a one-time setup.
This guide covers bumping on DISBOARD and on DiscoListing, how to avoid missing bumps without breaking rules, and what bumps can't do for you.
What a bump does
A bump tells a server list your server is still around and worth showing. On bump-ordered lists like DISBOARD, the most recently bumped servers appear first in each tag. A bump is promotion, not a measure of activity: it brings visitors to your listing, and your server has to keep them.
How to bump a Discord server on DISBOARD
- Sign in on disboard.org with Discord and add your server.
- Fill in the description, language and tags. Tags decide which tag pages your bump lifts you on, so pick ones that really fit.
- Invite the DISBOARD bot when asked.
- Run
/bumpin a channel where the DISBOARD bot can read and reply. - Bump again when the cooldown ends. Bumping guides put it at two hours, and the bot tells you how long to wait if you're early.
How to bump on DiscoListing
- Submit your server and wait for staff review. Every server is reviewed before it goes live.
- Add the DiscoListing bot to your server.
- Run
/bump. The cooldown is currently two hours, and the bot tells you when you can bump again.
Bumps here work differently from a bump-ordered list. Each bump in a row is worth less than the one before (1, then ½, then ⅓), bumps fade over time, and bumps can never be more than 8% of a server's Quality Score. The rest comes from measured activity, member retention, capped votes and staff review. Bumping helps, but a quiet server can't bump its way to the top.
Premium shortens the bump cooldown: Plus saves 20 minutes and Pro saves 50. We list that openly on the premium page because it's a paid advantage.
Bump reminders vs. auto bumping
Use a reminder, not an auto bumper:
- Reminders are fine. Many bots can ping a role when the cooldown ends, so a person runs
/bump. - Auto bumping is risky. Scripts that bump from a user account break Discord's Terms of Service on automated accounts, and guides warn it can get a server delisted. DISBOARD ignores bump commands sent by bots.
Spread bumping across staff in different time zones if you want steady coverage.
Why bumps alone don't grow a server
Bumps bring visitors. Whether they stay depends on what they find:
- A clear first channel that explains what the server is for.
- Somebody to talk to. Answer new members quickly, especially in the first week.
- A reason to come back, like events, regular threads or channels for a shared hobby.
Our guides on onboarding, member retention and growing a Discord server cover this in depth.
Where else to promote your server
Bumping on one list reaches one audience. List on several sites with the same description and invite, and track which ones bring members who stay. See our list of free Discord server advertising sites.
