About Photography Discord servers

Photography servers connect people who see the world through a lens. Communities range from general photography hubs with critique and showcase channels, to genre-specific servers for street, landscape, wildlife, astrophotography, portrait, film or mobile photography, to gear-focused groups that discuss cameras, lenses and lighting. Many servers also cover editing in tools like Lightroom, Capture One and Darktable, and some organise local photo walks.

When choosing a photography server, look for critique channels with structure: posters should explain what they were trying to achieve, and feedback should address composition, light, exposure and editing choices. Weekly themes or challenges are a great motivator. Gear channels are most helpful when advice focuses on what a photographer actually needs rather than pushing expensive upgrades. Editing communities benefit from shared RAW files and before-and-after examples. Look for rules about photographing people, consent and privacy, especially for street and event photography.

DiscoListing reviewers check that photography servers respect photographers and subjects. We reject servers that repost photographers' work without credit, share sneaky photos of people without consent, or distribute pirated editing software and presets. Portrait and model communities must follow consent rules, and any content sexualising minors is banned. Communities that share explicit photography must be age-gated and marked NSFW.

If you are new to photography, a server with weekly challenges is a great way to learn. A theme like "reflections" or "golden hour" pushes you to experiment, and seeing other members' interpretations teaches you to look at scenes differently.

Related tags include Editing, Nature, Travel and Cosplay, all of which overlap with photography communities.
